The Mission

The aim of the B Corp movement is to shift from an economy that prioritises only profit, to an inclusive, equitable and sustainable economic system. This means valuing transparency, accountability, and most importantly, the triple bottom line: people, planet and profit. After all, what’s the point in maximising profits if we’re destroying the only planet in the universe known to support life?

Companies undergo rigorous assessment and are continually re-assessed and required to pass the re-certification process every 3 years. The assessment covers five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. There are over 200 questions, and a company must achieve a score of 80 or more to become certified. 

In 2020, one of our divisions, Optimised Energy, became a certified B Corp, scoring 98.0 points on the B Impact Assessment. We are now working towards certifying the Group as a whole and are currently at the verification stage of the review process. As part of this certification, we report against the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), using these to reflect on our broader purpose and strive for a more sustainable future.
